Don’t Let Daddy Warbucks Kick Little Orphan Annie to the Curb

Sherman Oaks, CA November 2017- Indivisible Sherman Oaks will stand in solidarity with the Indivisible National Tax Scam Day of Action by staging a sit-in at Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Office on Monday, November 27th . With this devastating bill already making it through Congress, Senate will start voting at this projected date. Other organizations joining the event include The Resistance Northridge, Indivisible,
The Women’s March Los Angeles Foundation, and ROAR Resistance.

The latest Trump's tax plan offers huge benefits to corporations and the wealthy while being devastating for the majority of Americans. Also, at the last minute, the GOP snuck in a repeal of the ACA as their last ditch effort to strip 13 million Americans of their healthcare. Hundreds of thousands of them (if not millions) will die because of it. Other measures include drastic cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, safety nets to our most vulnerable citizens. Adding insult to injury, the bill would eliminate the medical deduction that ordinary people often count on to survive.

“This Tax Scam is a love letter to giant corporations and the wealthy. This is not ‘tax reform,’ but rather a carefully crafted attempt to benefit the wealthiest 1% of our nation, while driving a steamroller over the backs of the middle class and working class poor. This proposed Tax bill lowers the tax rate for wealthy individuals and phases out or repeals other provisions, like the estate tax and the alternative minimum tax. There is nothing that is beneficial to the middle class that isn’t canceled out by some other change the Tax Scam makes. The Trump Tax Scam repeals dozens of popular deductions that help the middle class, like medical deduction, student loan interest deduction, State, and Local Tax deductions, eliminates mortgage interest deductions for new homes, and caps the mortgage interest deduction to 500K for new mortgages. Millions of middle-class homeowners would see a hike under this bill. Students, the elderly, the poor, the middle class, veterans, charities, hurricane and flood victims, and the list goes on will be affected.

As is fitting in Los Angeles, this will be a street theater protest where costumes are encouraged. The theme is Daddy Warbucks kicks Little Orphan Annie to the curb. The wealthy “Warbucks” are Trump's winners and ordinary, hard working people lose.
